What is your favorite lens to shoot with?

    Hi,

Just bit of a discussion starter but I am interested in the responses.

What is your favorite lens to shoot with?

Thinking of the lenses you currently own now, If you could only keep one, which lens would it be?

    Cheers Nate

Since buying a Sigma 17-50/2.8 l haven't taken it off, not a really exxy glass but works for me....my other body has a sigma 150-600 pretty much permanently attached - not that they get much use lately

Sigma make some seriously good glass. It will be interesting to see what others are using.

Re: What is your favorite lens to shoot with?

Given that much of what I do is nature photography then my Sony 100-400 G Master lens would be the go. It is quite versatile actually, working quite well for close up and landscape as well.

Truth is I keep this lens on my Sony A6400 crop sensor to give me that extra reach and keep my 16-35 on the full frame for the serious landscape stuff.

Often I'll go out with the 100-400 A6400 birding, but have LUMIX FZ300 in the bag to cover anything else not best suited to the Sony kit.

I know I didn't really answer the question as asked, but it really is horses for courses and if I was only to have one.. it would probably be the LUMIX with its 25-600mm 2.8 equiv. non replaceable lens as it pretty much covers everything but at slightly less image quality.

Re: What is your favorite lens to shoot with?

That’s a question which evokes emotion in me. I think it depends on what is the camera being used . . . I’ve used several cameras over the years and for each I did have a favourite lens. Maybe my reminiscence will resonate in others.

Minolta 135 Format SLR – favourite lens: Rokkor 58mm F/1.2

Nikon 135 Format SLR – favourite lens: Nikkor 105mm f/2.5

Mamiya 645 Format SLR – favourite lens: Mamiya Sekor 80mm F/2.8 (Leaf Shutter)

    Pentax 6x7 Format SLR – favourite lens: Pentax 67 35mm F/4.5 (Fisheye)

Linhof 4x5 Format View Camera – favourite lens: Rodenstock 210mm F/5.6

    ***

I have four cameras which I now regularly use:

    Canon APC-C Format Mirror-less – favourite lens: Mitakon 35mm F/0.95 MkII

    ***

Fuji APS-C Format Mirror-less - I bought the camera to get the lens: Fujinon 23mm F/2 (Leaf Shutter)

    ***

Canon DSLR 135 Format – favourite lens: Laowa 105mm F/2 (STF)

    ***

    Canon DSLR APS-C Format – favourite lens: EF-S 18 to 55 F/3.5~5.6L (a big conversation piece)
