Comparing Zoom on Entry level DSLR with Lumix FZ1000

I recently purchased for my wife a Lumix FZ1000. She is happy but today mentioned something that surprised me and when I checked she was right.

The LZ1000 has a fixed 25mm to 400mm lens. Her older DLSR (Pentax K50) is currently fitted with a Sigma 70mm to 300mm lens.

When the Lumix FZ1000 lens is set to 400mm and the Pentax K50 Sigma lens is set to 300mm, it is the K50 that brings the objects in the viewfinder closer.

Why is this so? Does it have to do with the fact that the sensor in the FZ1000 is smaller (I thought this would have had the opposite effect though)?

    Cheers

Could it be that the lens is suited to full frame and the K50 is crop sensor?
