My First Forum Question - "which camera/lens for me"

Hello - while I was metal detecting on my local beach I saw a pair of sea eagles sitting side by side on a log less than 50m from me and about 3m off the ground up on the sand dune and I thought that would make a fantastic photo.

I have done some research and considered the Nikon 3400 as the best beginners SLR camera (please correct me if I might be wrong) although I have never owned such a camera before.

    I also wonder what type of lense I might need like a 70 - 300mm for such a shot,or would the standard lens 18mm - 55mm do ?

I have looked at ebay and there is some very good priced Nikon cameras like the D7000 although older but with a 70 - 300mm lens + 18 - 200mm + 40mm + Micro/Macro + 35mm Sharp + Fish Eye including many extras currently $481.00 at auction finishing tomorrow.

There is also older ones than the D7000 going cheap.

I will probably start photographing wild life like birds and reptiles because there is plenty in my area.

I am just starting out on my camera purchase information journey.

Thanks for your answers, tips and insight.

    Jim Tom

nothing short of a ff canon or nikon with a 600mm lens would be suitable for some --- $15,000-$20,000 should get you going

If you want some real advice; I suggest not being so impatient (rude) and repost the question as this thread is now closed .

DSLR are now so old fashioned and certainly not a have to have any more
