    Photography with Moonlight

Next year when I travel through the red centre I hope to capture some images using moonlight. I have not done this before and I have a couple of questions.

    (1) Do you use Auto White Balance or a specific setting or temperature?
    (2) Manual or Auto Focus?
    (3) Image Stabilisation On or Off?
    (4) Aperture - I am thinking f8 maybe?

I mostly want to try and get the white mounds dumped by the opal miners in Coober Pedy as well as the Breakaways. I would also like to get one with red dunes in the foreground and the night sky / Milky way in the background but I need to find a suitable location first. There may be a spot on Maryvale Rd (Old South Rd?) about 25 km south of Alice. Maybe Nate might know of a spot or two.

I can only say what I would do. AUto white balance and adjust in processing if required. Manual focus, stabilisation off if on tripod, and assuming a wide lens F 8 should be ok, but there are a few other variables depending on how you want the shot to look.
