    honest thoughts appreciated

    The photo work that has been 9 years in the making. This "for" my brother who died 9 years ago and the cloud photo was take on that day so it seemed the background to use
    I would appreciate your honest thoughts before printing to give to my mother, sister, and sister in law . The photo will not be very big; small actually by today's standards

    Ian this obviously means more to you and your family than whether or not anyone else can make an objective assessment of the image. If it feels right for you I certainly can't see any way it could be improved.

    thanks greg. As I often say, emotions can be blinding when it comes to photos . There's something I'm not sure about and now I have seen it on "another screen" I'm thinking the red at the bottom is a little too strong compared to his face
    Cheers

    Maybe the face is just a bit too translucent. Are you able to change the opacity of the cloud burst?

    Re: honest thoughts appreciated

    As already mentioned, an emotional piece of work.

    Looks great, as is, but I do agree with you that the red and the three helicopters on the bottom are a little over powering.
    Washing them out a little should make his face more prominent.
    Nothing more to say other than I am sure all those getting a copy will be very happy with the image.

    Helicopters;
    If colours are true, then leave them alone. How much they meant to you and your brother is for you to decide.
    Brother's face in clouds;
    You can increase the opacity slightly, but I prefer it the way it is, and why it is peaking through the clouds.
    Kind regards;

    I really like it! And as commented by others, I found the colours a little vibrant (overpowering) compare to his face. The blue of the sky and red helicopters are drawing my attention over the face.

    Guessing it's done & dusted Ian.

    For what it's worth I think your bro's face looks A1 as is.

    Think it might benefit from the bi-plane being placed beneath his face, maybe on the left, to give space and to bring more focus to his eyes. Wondering if one of the 3 lower choppers could be replace with the bi-plane? It'd reduce the red while opening up his face.

    Overall it's fantastic. Totally feeling it mate. And feeling for you and your family.

    Take care

    I like it.

    Probably a little late now, as I imagine it's already been printed, but still my decision would have stood.
    No need for change.

    I'm interested in this Affinity, you seem to be doing some nice stuff with it?
    I'll keep watching.

    Cheers,

    The more you look at this the more you see. There are captains bars on the left shoulder and the face seems to appear out of the clouds as you watch.
    I would not change a thing other than the time one spends peering into it.
    I have used Affinity since it first came out and love it.

    Thanks fellas. Not much has happened -- not in a rush. Still looking at it from time to time and making little adjustments that no one would notice

    I prefer the more subtle approach of the first image. I'm not quite sure about the underside view of the fourth helicopter. I find it a bit of an eye catch and detracts from your brother's image.
