Options for wide seamless paper bckdrops

Just wondering if anyone has any tips for setting up something wider than a 2.7 metre seamless paper backdrop. I see that for around $300 I can pick up 30m x 3.5m seamless rolls. Has anyone had experience with using these with Manfrotto expansion sets? Do they end up too heavy with a full 30m roll? Anyone tried using 5m long aluminium tubing with the expansion sets to get a really wide backdrop (i.e. cutting off a section of the paper and putting it on its side)?

Yes you're on the right track when you asked about the dip in the middle of the wider rolls.

Commercial photographers would be using them for sure, and yes I would imagine they would have to have some form of support like metal tubing.

Next, my question is do you have enough use to warrant spending the $300?
I have this problem all the time, and what I do is stretch my B/Ground in P/shop.
I suppose some people think I'm a little crazy, and maybe I am, however that's what I do to fix the problem.

Eg: This B/Ground was stretched and the motorbike was added in.

This B/ground was stretched to show somebody, then stretched further for the final image.

It might seem hard, but it gets easier to do each time .

    Has this been helpful?

    Cheers,

Thanks Leicester. Yes, I have three little studios (one at work, two at home) one of which is a fair size so it would be good to use the width with wider rolls. The photoshop background stretch could certainly solve a lot of problems though.

Hi there and thanks for your reply.

Now if you've got the means, as it sounds like, then why not go ahead with the wide paper, it would certainly make life easier.
But as i said earlier you'll bound to find that you will need a metal tube to support the weight. Good luck with it.
I don't even have my own Studio, so I have to use the one at our Club.

Now just for interest, here's a Photo that I took last month, the 1st is with the original B/Ground
and the next 3 have been replace with computer generated B/Grounds.
