    Camera ideas

    Hi,

I'm taking a class and need a 35mm camera with the following specifications:

Manual controls (you must be able to change the aperture and shutter speed)
    Built in light meter
    Standard lens (approx. 50mm)
Hot shoe or synch point for flash unit

Does anyone have any ideas what I should get? Any help is appreciated.

    Thanks

    Re: Camera ideas

    Take your pick.
Minolta, Olympus, Nikon, Canon, Pentax, Ricoh, Yashica, Contax,........

Most SLR's from any of the camera manufacturers would meet your requirements.

The issue is finding one. And one that is in full working condition.
While most of the older fully manual cameras are built like tanks, and will survive a good kicking or three, some of them do need the light seals and the foam in them replaced as it does perish over time.

    Where are you located?
Try a local camera store, or even a camera repair place.
They should be able to offer you a fully checked camera, and even though it might cost more than from ebay, it should last a very long time with no issues.
Have any old relo's that might have a camera lurking in the cupboard?
Pester all your friends and relo's, let them know you want a camera, some one will have one stashed away with you name on it!!
You might even get a few aditional lenses as well!!

    Re: Camera ideas

How much are you going to use it after the class? When do you need it by and for how long ?

Not really sure why they would need you to use film ; it's not a bad idea but you can do similar manual stuff with most digital cameras

You could try camera exchange in melbourne
    can't go past a nikon FM2

My recommendation is with Nikon D500 which is best camera among others as per your requirements.
