    Home made diffuser

Thought I'd have a go at making a popup flash difuser today.

took some sissors to a nutrigrain box...

Then of course had to try it out.

This 1st image is without the diffuser (direct flash)

    then again with the diffuser

Here is one using my father's macro attachment

Surprising how well something like that works. I've got one similar held on with a rubber band!

I made that one with a flap that slots into the flash hot shoe socket.

    Re: Home made diffuser

There must be something about Nutri Grain boxes that make good light modifiers.

Here is one I created for my SB800 back in 2011:

And here is a DIY beauty dish I created earlier this year (for the same SB800):
    DIY_BeautyDish.jpg
    This was my MkI.
My MkII beauty dish was exactly the same only the entire inside is covered with aluminium foil (to act as a silver reflector instead of the white), which works much better.
I also use baking paper over the front (held on with bulldog clips) for that really authentic DIY look LOL.

Good enough for mucking around at home with...

Well done on your DIY diffuser!

I've applied a bit of sharpening to the flower shot:

Thanks everyone for commenting, and Doogle, I love your collection of DIY light modifiers.

So, now we know that Nutrigrain is useful for something... providing materials for making light diffusers
