    >> show us your editing.

We often look at great photos on the web and think my photos don't come out of the camera looking like that .
I have often thought others should not be able to see what editing has been done to our files and as I search the web for inspiration to go up the ladder another step I'm often left thinking WTH have they done/how the hell is that possible. Then I read on and find its a panorama of 6 manually blended file.

Or three files have been manual blended or the photographer has simply waited for the light to be the same across the whole scene and with the sun over the shadow it is just a matter of click; some very basic edits and there's $$ in the bank.

so I though a "show us your editing for start to finished" thread with explanation in basic terms what has been done. And we need to be prepared to answer (in basic terms) questions. Naturally a before/after files plus files from the middle. (colour>black/white++)

So get the ball rolling I will post this one even though it's a reject that I just re-edited before posting elsewhere in a composition thread

Original Canon G12 (march 2013) file with my basic edited preset added when imported. The idea is get a raw file similar to how the camera would edit a jpg file.

just been given a little contrast/vibrance boost

converter to b/w in lightroom. Darkened the blue channel

to finish the file the white timber has be darkened with the adjust brush (exposure+h/lights.

All only small changes but each has added to the file even though I consider it a reject and was surprised it was even still alive.
Click on the first file>click on next 3 times then it's easy to flick back and forth.

I would think this is a good thread to post editing links also

Thread has been started so I hope others of all levels will add their editing to help others, themselves; and me . But I really hope the experience will post their editing to help the less experience. And; I am not doing it all folks!

ok, went over the road earlier when l saw the hazy moon on the water, camera had a 10-20mm 4.5 on it, so that is what I used. Tried changing settings to try and pull off a shot but they were all pretty crappy...long exposures and hand-held...

Full steps and explanation? Insert "Ain't nobody got time fo that!" meme here.

I have speed edit videos that I take. I have before and after shots. But when one car shot can take me an hour or more to do...

No spectacular editing for me, just gelled flash and WB to give a purpley blue cast to the sky

Trying to get the Early morning light (Magic Hour) mid morning. South West Australia.

Using Colour Efex Pro to finish what LR started with warmth. I used the Brilliance and warmth filter to give it the Golden hour touch. Taken with a Finepix S3000 Bridging camera about eight years ago. Just resurrected to apply filters.

Bugga, Because they were older shots I overwrote not thinking. That being said lower all orange toning and lessen the vibrancy of the green you end up with rather bland grey photo's. I'll do another set and try again they just won't be the same shots. But will be the same application.

    Re: show us your editing.

1 original file. Photographed from under the bush

2 import preset to make similar to a jpeg

    3 done for now'
Used lightroom colour channels to add colour to the leaves and remove blue sky. Needs a red boarder ??

Thats how we need to post files in here folks; . The idea is to be able to see the before and after so we can use similar in our own PP work flow.

Anyone using Nik Efex Colour Pro only/mainly.....got any good work flow videos/Ebooks/articles

the three auto bracketed files for the above edit>>0 +2/3 -2/3 of a stop

Used this file for the edit as that should give a cleaner (less noise) file

A couple more. The first is the original experiment poor lighting and poor composition. The second has been cropped and rotated in Fast-stone, Warmed a touch in LR then filter applied from Colour Efex Pro Warmth and brilliance selection.

A warm reflection of their former selves

Vivexa is a real gift. I really like the structure slide.

I really like the final shot. The Time of day changes with the PP from misty morning to just before sunset. IMO

As-yet unreleased shoot from last weekend...

    Benefits of PP 33.jpg

New layers in PS and using masking and gradients to cover the hot-spots from the flashes. Increasing the brightness and contrast, especially the sky and the reds. Add a little extra sky from a second image as the first one is a little patchy. Clone out the poo.

    Re: show us your editing.

I'll use the blog of someone else as an example of where skillful editing can take a photo.

Local to Adelaide award winning landscape photographers Dylan and Marianne Toh have no problem with showing examples of the raw file they begin with and where they take the image using a combination of Lightroom and Photoshop.
The thing I take away from it is that their well exposed unprocessed RAW file looks like any other well exposed RAW file. Their camera is not preforming any special magic to the raw file than anyone else's. The final result is more creative and individual than any in camera Jpeg processing is going to give, and it all comes down to having an editing plan and vision.
