Well, here are four versions of mine. Not so keen on the sepia one.

All done in Irfanview. No selective work except for cloning out the bush on right.

The last one uses an 8bf filter which is a Photoshop filter. Many 8bf filters will fit numerous graphic editors.

All interesting filters applied to these and cropped but how about doing some adjustments like levels, contrast and curves etc to try and enhance the image? The image is straight out of the camera so it needs these. Then these filters can be applied with an even better result.

    Even a mono conversion.

Re: Who has a shot we can have a play with?

i did have a go at changing the levels etc but i wasn't happy with what i'd done so i opted to crop and remove some shadows and anomilies in the concrete etc. which made me a lot happier with the finished product. i still have a lot to learn about adjusting levels i'm afraid. i was more confident with tinkering the levels etc on the tree pic....i could see with that one the positive change.

Practice is what's needed until you get more confident with what you're doing. The first is a pretty good result I would just lighten the shadows only, a bit.

You HDR lovers should have fun with this one
Do you have the other exposure levels for us to play with as-well?

I had a quick 5 minute stab at it nonetheless:

Re: Who has a shot we can have a play with?

Nope. Thats the challenge. I cant post a 16bit tiff either as Gimp cant handle it, which really sucks, unless there is something out there Im missing. I like your effort though. The red is a little distracting, but the sky is quite striking.

Re: Who has a shot we can have a play with?

Hi Dazza, I had a go at yours, hope you don't mind I didn't use HDR, rather adjustment layers and selected each feature and adjusted levels and curves. It was tricky trying to swing the light around, lets know what you think? i cropped it as well. I think I would try again, still has a blue cast but maybe it's not bad.

    Regards,
    Chris.

    Cheers,
    Chris.

Thumbs up Re: Who has a shot we can have a play with?

Thats pretty good Chris. Actually, its excellent. From memory, that very close to how the eye saw it because even the bright sky turned the shadows dark. HDR was not a request, just a suggestion. Great use of layers. I must do an editing course.

Here's my take on Chuckdup's pic. I've used some filters from Color Efex Pro as well as some of the features in CaptureNX 2.

Thanks mate, I really liked the clouds in your shot and you did get the detail in them. Also liked the perspective of the tower is this one compared to the thread version.

    Chris.

Are you talking about the images in the thread I created a few weeks back? I was going to post an image with this comp in that thread but never got around to it. This one was much more challenging .

I like the look of yours too John. I'll actually reserve full judgement for the last 2 when I get home. This monitor at work is not the best.

That's the one Now you just need to get the right light on it, it's a great subject, would look forward to seeing it.
