Hi all
Joined the forum a week or so ago and have uploaded a few images to the photo gallery (Simon Foley). Been a busy week or two as my wife had a baby 3 weeks ago and I have not really had much time to sit down in front of computer and introduce myself until now.
Have been taking photos for as long as I can (or can't) remember, converted to digital when the megapixels hit 5 and handed all my film equipment over to my cousin who takes photos at horse shows for a living and have not used film since.
I started my career in advertising art and computer programming and I think that it has made my transition from using someone else's film processing labs to doing my own Photoshop digital darkroom processing a logical and exciting step. For me Photoshop is now a big part of my photography that I think I was missing with chemical film. My wife uses Photoshop for her digital photography and digital scrapbooking too so we are usually able to figure new photoshop techiques out between us which also helps.
My favourite subjects are wildlife, birds, portraits and landscape. Macro might be next on my list.
My biggest problem currently is inspiration. I enjoy competitions and challenges because they give me some focus. I am still looking for inspiration for the BIG project, maybe a photographic book or a subject that will take a lot of effort.
Currently have a Canon 350D SLR
