That's a very interesting flower. I've never seen one of those before. It kinds of reminds me of a sunrise, with the yellow centre trying to break away from the lower horizon. The white and deep purple patterns are intriguing also.
I'm not that much of a skilled photographer to critique, except that it works very well for me, and I love it.

I think I would prefer it did not grow anywhere! :D Looks positively carnivorous. There is a fruit that looks this when ...oh yeah. Duh...fig. :)
It's a fascinating shot. You seem to have got good Depth of Field for such a close shot, unless it's an optical illusion and there is no depth. I am assuming that it's a crop of a larger field, using macro? You had quite a long lens length. That can give good DOF. You also avoided flash blowout.
I do have a question regarding my current pet hobbyhorse. How big (in bytes) is the file you posted? If you post bigger than 800 on a side, you get compressed.

Not sure if that helps or not. What is the source of that data? Is it what you actually have on disk, or from photobucket...?

It is still there on my browser...great pic. Never seen one before. I would be down there getting more and trying different angles. Colours and the quality are great.
