You have done that fairly well with what you have to work with>wedding>mid afternoon>bright sun>white dresses> (you are lucky you had a beautiful bride) to ydoolb hardy to get good photos because of the highlights and shadows. About the only way to get that photo would be to underexpose the background and use your flash to expose the bride corrected. Under the condition is a good photo; try a black and white conversion.

The one on the right is better, I don't like the left hand side one. I don't like the vignette on the left, it's too obvious (unless you go for a high contrast look, vignettes should be subtle)

The shot is ruined by the harsh light but I still think it looks decent. When photographing in harsh sunlight, when you can try and be in a position where the subject's face is in even light (i.e. they are backlit). Then you can use your flash to fill in front or something, or you can just photoshop the face up, if the dynamic range is enough depending on conditions. Otherwise you get all these lines and dark patches from the shadows on the face.

Nice shot though! Lovely moment. Your exposure was otherwise very good, I think you nailed it actually. One thing I like about compacts like the P73 is their auto modes handle harsh situations better than SLRs in their auto modes. I think they do a software shadow highlight adjustment.

I think if you could clone the people in the bg out using the hedge it would be a lot better than the process you have used
Nice shot anyway!

Okay firstly great shot! She looks so happy! I agree with everything hat has already been said about the light and background etc but I'm betting that despite everything she will love the image anyway.

I hope you dont mind but I've had a little play (its not good as the file size was small and I only took about 3 minutes to do it) but its more to give you an idea on what you can do to improve the shot.. I cloned out the background people and blurred the background a little too (as you can see by mine the blur is horrendous but if you took a little time to do it then it would work nicely).. then I burnt the edges a bit to highlight her and adjusted the levels..

anyways if you want me to remove my edit just let me know and I'd do is asap.. :)
