I carry 6 golf sized identical bright coloured umbrella's in the boot of my car for rainy weddings.. they have saved the day on more than one occassion now.. you can also get the clear bubble shaped umbrella's which sometimes look nice (they are hard to get brides to use though as the umbrella's are smaller and won't cover all of their dress if its raining hard.. :)

I've done a few in the rain. One the bride had blue parasols and we managed to get some beach shots just before the huge line of rain came over. It was spectacular! You could see it coming a mile off over the water. Dark and rain came at the same time so camera up under top and off we rain to shelter.
You just have to be more creative inside with nice lamp lighting or whatever you can find and use umbrellas if possible. Make the most of it.

My very first solo wedding it was blowing a gail and raining.
If the bride is willing to ruin the dress, I think if you are creative enough, and up-beat enough, you can get the bride and groom laughing about the irony of the whole thing and can get some AWESOME shots. I love rainy weddings!
Just look at it in a positive way. Different photo's! Not your typical 'cliche' shots. You can do all sorts. Get them to act like kids again in some instances if they bride isn't too up-tight. Goodluck with that, most are Bridezilla's.
I just look at it as an opportunity more so than a set back. I wish I had more rainy wedding's lol.

I try to always have a 'backup plan' in case it rains so you don't get caught out on the day - always have a brolly handy - if you need help to convince a devastated bride that its not the end of the world -tell them that it is good luck for it to rain on your wedding day (apparently this is true!). I got some great shots once of the couple cuddling under the umbrella. Would show you but I was shooting for someone else so therefore they are 'not my photos' (boo hoo)

When I have a second shooter they always retain copyright to the photos they took but I get to use them to edit for the couple. I let my second shooters build their personal portfolio either online or in print form. Maybe you need to review this part of your deal with the other photographer.

my actually wedding was shot in some of the worst rain i had seen in my life!!!! it did not stop raining all day... Unfortunatly for us the photographer didnt have a back up plan, so we ended up going to the Novotel Brighton for a few shots and then in and around some park at Balmain/leichardt for more shots, i must admin that the rain added to the atmosphere of these shots, old sandstone buildings and luch green surounds...

It is indeed in many cultures, as it represents "showers of blessings or wealth". Our wedding day was absolutely pouring and we couldn't have been happier. The photos were wonderful, as my wife didn't mind getting the gown wet (she had another 7 dresses to change into for the evening ahead).

no problem with rainy day.
u can set up the color to cloudy mode.
and need a big umbrella (of course, need one people to help u hold it).
don't let water come to the front of the lens
use flash with bounce and don't get over exposure, even if dark a bit is ok. then u can use all of them
:D
