OK, serious CC here...
The girl in white SERIOUSLY needs to stop pouting, she looks stupid when she does it (I am being serious and honest here - pouts work for some women, but she's not part of that some)
Last one in second set looks too cheesy. The girl in pink needs to be pointing her toe rather than bending her ankle, it doesn't look right (I don't know why, but the bent ankle doesn't scream celebrate like a pointed toe does)
First and second shot in the last set are ruined by the girl in white again (sorry if I am coming across as harsh, but if this guy wants to sell these cocktails then he can't have just one person looking like an idiot, it should either be all or none). In the first shot she has that stupid pout that she is no good at and in the second one she is the odd one out by BLOWING on her cocktail...? That strikes me as odd since you can see clearly that they are nice, chilled cocktails and all the other girls have this BRILLIANT eye contact and smile.
Honestly (this is in no way a reflection of your photography skills because otherwise these are fabulous promo photos), if the girl in white wasn't in these, they would be perfect. She seems to detract from every image (and I wince as I type this because I know I am sounding like a nasty hormonal cow LOL)
Sorry *gets off her high horse now*

LOL Mel!
Thats quite elaborate.
Yeah i agree with the pout. She looks real sweet when she's just smiling normally. Partly my fault I guess. I just asked them to do what they normally do (they work for Jagermeister as promo girls) and I guess this is what they normally do. :o
It's real tough trying to get all 4 to act in a certain way. And when ur ready to take the shot, without doubt someone will move and change . ugh!
"bent ankle doesn't scream celebrate like a pointed toe does"
I'm not quite sure what you mean by this....?
But in terms of my shots eg lighting, compo, etc
whatcha think?

Buz - Thanks for the comments. Wanted something relaxed and fun. It's about a cocktail after all. And if ur in Sydney I'll grab you one! haha

"bent ankle doesn't scream celebrate like a pointed toe does"
Go look at the Toyota ads where people are jumping in the air, one of the things they do is point their toes when they jump. Read up on body language and you will see that certain positions are "blocking" or "confrontational" while others are "open" or "playful".
The bent ankle seems blocking as opposed to a pointed toe which in terms of body language is much more playful.
I said in the previous post, I like the photos, they are fabulous except for that one girl. Seriously, I put my hand up to the screen and cover her up in each of the shots and they are absolutely awesome!!!
You can't help who you get for models and you can't make them pout correctly, that's something she has to work on (and someone needs to tell her she looks stupid with that pout - especially for a Jaegermeister girl, holy moly!!!)
Technically great shots and the person you did the shots for will probably be very happy with them, or be firing a model. Trust me, your photography work on these is excellent!

I think they're great shots. Very relaxed/fun feelings so I guess suit the promos. Lighting also looks good although in some parts looks like there might be hot spots but I'm not sure maybe it's just my laptop. What sort of lighting did you use?

Mel - I get the pointed toe pose now. Just didn't see hwo it would work as the table was there and wouldnt have got a shot of that. Will definately keep that in mind next time.
The shots were quite rushed as well. Althought it doesn't seem like it but this area is the back smoking area and behind me, honestly, there were about 50 people who were there for a halloween party. lol. Quite annoying, flashes going off left and right for me. Overexposed quite a few of my shots as well. Then I had "Batman" who was adamant he wanted a group shot with the girls....I called security. lol Will need a quiet spot next time so we don't rush things.
Also my mate came over yesterday, and the first thing he said when he looked at the pics was "what the F is that girl doing???" referring to the pout...hahaha.
Oh well...my first time. Went well I suppose. Will learn and read up abit more next time I head out. :)

Thank Jackie. Yeah wanted a fun summery feel to it.
Ahh was wondering when sumone was going to notice the hot spots. Especially on the banners. Not so good with photoshop so nto sure how to get rid of it...dodge and burn maybe??
As for lighting.....I had two studio umbrellas, ring flash, reflectors...........................hehe just kidding.....just my trusty 430ex and a diffuser. lol

Better to airbrush out hotspots than use dodge and burn, more control :) Can change the colour tones as well. Dodge and burn tends to be black and white whereas with airbrushing you can blend into the surroundings more by setting the opacity to about 17% and selecting the airbrush capability tool (next to opacity) in the regular brush tool. Selecting a colour nearby makes the blending far more gentle than dodge/burn :D

^ That is definitely good advice!
Okay.. So I'm back. Halloween turned into a 2 day party for me.. I ended up down in Sydney somehow.. But anyway, I'm home now! So time for some critique..
These shots are cool - I think the pout on that one girl isn't very noticeable - I didn't atleast until (I think it was Mel?) someone pointed it out. The over-all "idea" of it is good and if it is going to be a poster or something of the sort, it gets the image across quickly and perfectly, IMO. I doubt anyone on the street is going to stop and go "Oh my, that girl's pout is horrendous!" - And even still, I think it's alright.
Anyway! Great shots, man. Keep at it!
