I have been into photography since 2005 which developed during my 1st trip to Europe. My interest is travel photography, mainly landscapes, architecture and street photography. I live in Melbourne but have been working in Launceston, Tasmania during the last year. I 'specialize' in Italy although I have also travelled to other parts of Europe and have had some work taken in China on exhibition in the USA. When in Australia, I love to concentrate on landscapes, where there are plenty of opportunities in Tasmania. I am fortunate enough to have both Canon & Nikon kit to use, so I can relate to both kinds of people into digital photography. I found this forum through photo.net where I have been active since my interest started. I have also online galleries on photo.net, smugmug and a couple of Italian websites. I look forward to corresponding with people a little closer to home.

Welcome to the forum. I have had a look at the photos you have in the gallery (and on smugmug) and they are excellent.
Steve.
Welcome I see you have been to Jiuzhaigou as well!
PS What does 3 stop hard & 2 stop soft mean in regards to your very nice Pastel Sunset?

Welcome to the forum and since you have been working here it's nice that Launceston is now so well represented :) I have yet to get to your gallery but will do so soon.

Thank you for the welcome Mark, Mike & Steve. Good to see a strong Tasmanian contingent. Mike, Jiuzhaigou in autumn is the most beautiful place I have been to. I read a photography mag last year which had a feature on the place and 2 weeks later I was on my way there. I recently invested in a set of Singh-Ray filters which give very accurate control over exposures with their 1 to 3 stop gradients. They also come in hard and soft versions depending on how quickly they transition from dark to light. In Pastel Sunset I used the 3 stop hard filter pulled down to the horizon to compensate for sky, while the 2 stop soft was pulled down to the rocks to compensate for water.

I'm sure it is and spring would be great to, Just don't go in Summer Holiday Season when I did ..you have to fight for the space to get a photo!

IF you thought it was bad in summer you may want to avoid the peak period in mid-October when the leaves turn red in autumn. I caught the end of the period in November. My guide told me the week before I arrived they were getting 10,000-15,000 visitors a day!
If it gets worse than this they must be climbing over each other..!
