Took this shot today & did not like the original. Decided to give it some Dry Brush in CS3. Let me know what you think

Great save Rob, think it would be one to print and step back and look. Tried it on the PC screen, took about 5 steps back and comes together like a painting, brilliant. Have seen this action before and really like what you have done here.

I'm sorry but i have to state my honest opinion. I'm not a fan really, mainly because the fact it looks to much like a photoshop filter, that really ruins the photos in my eyes. Others may like it because it looks like a 'painting', but still to me it doesn't.
Try maybe merging the original with a new layer with brush strokes on it, to give it a proper, paint feel. You may not like this idea, i was just trying to help.
I also wasn't trying to be rude in anyway at your image.

I have seen quite a few of the mods with programing for digital art. Emus amuse me..as to their charismatic smirks.:D

No offence taken. Have never tried this so if you feel like giving a few hints on "How", that would be great

Heres my try, i agree most of the Photoshop filters look like photoshop filters, theres only a couple i don't mind, the water colour is one, i did this with a surface blur and a heap of saturation. Hope you don't mind.

Rob, love your work thats A class!
flash I also really like your surface blue.
I could image both as oil on canvas hanging in a gallery.

When you look at the original, makes you wonder what this type of effect would look like on a sharp image? Have never tried it so unsure. Bob's version has nearly saved the pic for viewing at a normal distance but the original needs to be viewed from a distance, like an oil painting. Also curious about how to merge and add brushstrokes.

Rob, is there any chance you would let me have a jpeg of the original? I tried rescuing the shot, and got somewhere, but because of the lack of data in the 800*600, I am not sure if I got as good a result as I could.
Incidentally, how was focus missed I took some shots of roos the other day, and had poor focus, almost as if their coat makes focusing harder (???). Admittedly it was a hurried shot ( the roo took off and I panicked and did not listen to _ANY_ of my own advice!) and in poor light.

Hehe! You do know that with the Internet it does not matter where you are, right? It won't be all slow because you are somewhere else. :D
Sorry. Silly joke I could not resist.
