I accompanied my husband to a 40th birthday party on Saturday night, 4 weeks before the party the bloke decided to have his wedding the same night, so I thought I would take my camera along to snap some pics. This is the result...

I have others but they need some serious tweaking, I was limited in my capabilities by lighting and my camera. I pretty much refused to use the flash and kept the aperture at 1.8 for nearly every shot.

Nice shots i say. Some constructive cc for you. The glasses shot has alot of reflection. Moving the glasses to a clearer area to avoid so many objects reflecting would be advisable. Not sure if i can see your reflection but if is you try taking the photo standing to the side. Also there is a plant leaf/branch infront of one of the glasses towards the edge of the image. It serves as a distraction and should of been moved out of the shot.

The brides face looks a little overexposed in the vows shot. But considering you avoided flash you did well. Flash is though recommended for portraiture as it fills in shaddows and displays more detail.

I do like the wishing well shot. Like how you took it from behind a wall or something, kinda like you snuck the shot in.

Thank you for the CC! :D

In the vows shot, that was a down light pointed directly at her face. I really wish it was placed more over the middle of the pair :(

Most of the reflection in the goblets is flowers and cake (they were at the back of the table) and well spotted noticing me in there, I couldn't even see it hahaha! I looked very hard too! (Reminds me of Where's Wally?) I agree that the piece of greenery is a **************** BUT given the circumstances, I will take a small piece of greenery over the person's bum that wound up in another shot which was at a similar angle LOL

What I am TRULY peeved about is the photo of the kiss... EVERYONE'S flash went off at the same time... And I didn't think about that before it happened. If I had pre-empted it, I would have had the perfect shot (composition-wise), instead I have a groom whose neck is non-existent because his face is as white as his shirt (no shadows whatsoever) and the bride is pretty much some red hair. Stupid people with their point and shoots with flashes :( (I say that with love though as that is where I started)

If anyone knows of any great photoshop tutorials to rescue seriously overexposed photos, I would love a link!!!

I like the vibe of the first two shots. For shot 3, although not always possible, try to photograph from a higher position down on the subject as photographing from a lower position makes them look larger than they are

It's hard to rescue overexposed photos if you didn't shoot RAW, and if the highlights are blown then it becomes impossible unfortunately.
