Hi Sarah,
Your young model must have remained very still, she does not look blurred at all. Very nice effect.

Sarah,
Keep practising that technique, it can be GREAT fun, especially when moving lights are involved. :D
Also, moving people..... the flash captures their pose mid motion whilst still having the blur afterwards. :) Another good tip is, if your camera allows it, to have the flash go off at the end of the shutter, rather at the beginning.. gives more natural looking motion blur... best to do it at dawn or dusk, or low light where you will still get some light to show the blur. :)

I think the flash freezes the foreground and the blur comes from the available lighting,
