Welcome Ray, this is a very nice shot. The light is perfect and the sun in the window adds extra interest.

Yep, I am - also Raytracer on those forums :) I decided to partially quite the photography forum over there due to the amount of Canon fanaticism showing, plus the fact that a lot of new people asking for advice are being steered the 350d way.

I just want a nice, neutral forum where I can display my pictures :)

Am not familiar with that forum but some Nikonians can be a bit like that. Personally, I favour Nikons for my pro work only because I started with one and that sort of locks you in forever unless you are cashed up enough to buy a whole new system and a bunch of lenses. As far as I'm concerned a camera is a tool, it's either good or it isn't. Good tools in good hands produce good work.

My favourite personal camera, as said elsewhere, is an Olympus compact C-5050z (circa 2003). It's a sort of fixed lens pro level P&S. It sports a superb 35mm-105mm, F1.8 aspherical glass with optional wide and long conversion lenses. Steady hands can shoot handheld by candlelight. To my knowledge, you can't buy a P&S with a lens that fast no more. Hey, but what has this to do with your Thread! Sorry Ray, got carried away! :D

But I do agree, this forum is right now a nice, friendly place to be.

Love the shot, nice composition and detail. Was this shot in the morning or afternoon? There are alot of canon users and alot of nikon users abit like ford and holden. Personally as earthseasky said the camera is only a tool it only works well if the person behind it knows how to use it. I have been in this game for nearly 20yrs (amature) and seen some fantastic shots with just an average camera. In this field we are artists and you have to have an eye for detail but also have alot of fun.
