OK guys, I'm going out on a limb here but your constructive criticsm is much appreciated.
My three most special people during a lovely holiday in these photos so they're quite special to me but I am as amateur as amateur can be so would love to know how I can improve.
Thanks in advance!

Love the first, great expression, neutral background. IMO the second the angle is distracting, much with the roof and tiles on the ground that are at the top and bottom respectively. maybe a pano type crop?

Have a very critical look at them yourself looking all around the photograph and you will understand what I mean when I say you need to think just a bit more while you are looking through the view finder. You have three very good ideas here so you just need to work on you "through the lense thinking" and you will have great photographs. If these are you first post so i bet you show us some excelent work in the near future.

They are definitely great starter images - I'm still very amateur myself so I wouldn't pay TOO much attention to my CC if I were you, haha. :)
I like the first one, you've used the framing rule very nicely. I agree with shaddsi about the second one, the stripe at the top (I'm guessing that's the shelter?) and the tiles at the bottom are a bit distracting and maybe if you straightened it up a bit after cropping it it would give a much better effect. And again, agreeing with shaddsi, I think a pano type crop would work quite well with that image.
The third image is a bit overexposed but you've made great use of leading lines, so well done. :)
Keep practicing, you can only get better! :D

Thanks for the comments guys. Much appreciated. Shaddsi, I see what you mean about the lines and angles in the 2nd pic but I had to laugh out loud when I had a closer look at the photo and realised I'm one of the subjects in the pink shirt! My husband took this shot. Ha Ha! Anyway, I will pass your feedback on to him!
Bushanwater, I hear you loud and clear but I must tell you that there has been little or no thought that went into my photography until about a month ago. My purpose in taking the tens of thousands of photos in the past 5 years have been to capture the cutest smile/pose of my children. :p
I've since realised there is a lot more thought and time involved in capturing good photos. I'm now investing in some time to broaden my understanding of photography. I've just bought myself a Canon 450d and I can tell you that I am feeling very undeserving of it :)
I look forward to being brave enough one day to post some photos taken with it.

Carrot, thanks for your feedback too.:)
I love the first shot because it makes me want to squeeze her cheeks and her smile makes me melt. Never mind the "framing rule" :) See? I really need to take off my mother's cap and start seeing things differently. Aahh.....I'm sure I'll get there one day......

I think the first is delightful!! Maybe if you cropped it using the frame that is already there.
Anyway welcome!!
