Actually it's a bit more than a house. It's one of the castles close by The Hague.

The building dates originally from the 13th Century and some of the marble stones above the doorways originate from a Roman armoury that was in the area in the 1st and 2nd century. The stones still contain the original engravings made by the Romans.

I headed out there this morning because while it's autumn down home, it's Spring in Europe and everything is growing back again.

C&C welcome.

Stunning, as usual.

I love the juxtaposition of the tranquil country house and the crisscross of jet vapour trails in the sky :)

Peter, my wife is convinced that is a photo of a painting!! lol, i asked if she thought an artist would paint jetstreams into the sky!! There is so much going on one could almost agree that it is a painting, well done!!

Thanks for the comments guys.

You can let your wife know that at this size, I agree with her. There is something about it that makes it look like a painting, but I took this shot as part of a discussion on the merits of in camera jpeg (this one is developed from the RAW, but I shot this in RAW + large fine jpeg) and the DNG is freely available for download.

So if you want to convince her you can freely download and use the DNG for private use. It's 10 MB and is available here (just right-click or cmd-click and save it):
