This thread was inspired by Jules with fantastic photos (A Rocky Shore).
Photos taken at Eaglehawk Neck (the Blowhole to be precise) in January 2008 when I went back to Tasmania.
Nowhere near as good as Jules, but I'm happy with the black and white effect...
CC please!

I like the composition, but (my opinion only) it looks a little flat. I can only imagine what the colour one looks like (turquoise ocean, blue sky, red/orange rocks and green scrub? .. or maybe nothing like that at all :))
nicely shot.

Thanks Darvidanoar. But can I ask what you mean by 'a little flat'? Not that I'm being mean, just asking what you mean so I can take it on board for next time. :)
EDIT: I think I get what you mean about 'a little flat' now, by re-reading your post... do you mean because of it's desaturation/grayscale effect?
I've attached a copy of the original for curiosity... I had to crop the edited one, as you can see there are trees down the bottom and a man in a red shirt walking along the rocks... don't ask me what the hell he was doing there, such a risk! The area was completely fenced and yeah... he decided to go for a little wander...
*hopes attachment works, never used before!*
More CC would be appreciated... on the original and edited if possible. :)

Hi Carrot,
What I mean by 'a little flat' is the lack of contrast in the image.
I hope you don't mind me having a play with your images, and I hope this thread doesn't go too far off topic.
In the colour attachment, I have just sharpened it up and livened the colours a little bit (too far? maybe, but you get where I'm at?)
The B&W image I sharpened and fiddled with the contrast to bring those lovely cracks and crevices in the rock face to life
Again, this is my opinion only and I think you've captured a great shot. Such a shame some local council couldn't arrange to have that lovely big black rock moved to be in a 'rule of thirds friendly' position, but it works anyway. I reckon if every shot followed the 'rule of thirds', things would get pretty boring.

Thanks for the compliment Claire! I'ts nice to think I've influenced someone to try things.
I agree with what Davidanoar has said and done. A good edit. Making the whites white and bringing out some detail in the cliffs.
Actually Claire I was there in January also and took a photo from the same spot! How spooky is that?

Thank you for your CC guys, and thanks for your awesome editing Darvidanoar! (BTW, what's your name?! It always takes me so long to spell out your usename haha, unless that is your name...)
I would definitely go back there right now if I could and try to take a better and more satisfying shot, but there's a couple of reasons: 1) I can't really afford a plane ticket and a hired car to go to Tasmania and drive alll the way down and 2) I have a summative English essay due TOMORROW... ahhhh, lol.
WHOA Jules maybe we were even there on the same day... *Jaws theme*... spooooooky...
Thanks again!! :D
