I finally got out tonight for my first ever go at shooting city lights. Having lived here all my life I can't believe it took so long. And look how fast that Ferris wheel goes!

Hey Davo,

Really like the panaorama and the entry to luna park.

Only exposed for 1 sec, looks great...I would have thought it needed to be longer becasue of the lack of light, interesting :)

And yes, the link worked ;)

Great bunch of night shots Davo. Thanks for sharing these. I'm inspired to do some more night photography myself.

Weird, a lot of the shots are showing 1 sec exposure in the details. Checking the original files, most were around 10-15 seconds so I don't know what's happened with the exposure values on here. The rest of the details look ok I think. The Luna Park sign was 1 sec only though. That thing is so bright it's like looking into the sun.

Just watch out with the inspiration though. You'll start doing stupid things like getting out of bed 5am on Sunday morning in the middle of winter, so cold your fingers can't push the button, for some pre-dawn / dawn shots.

Just like I did this morning. It's a totally different view. The harbour bridge lights are off, much of the city office building lights are off. The lighting is just so different to the evening.

I'll post some more pics later but here's a sneak peek. The sun wasn't even close to rising in this one. It was the first shot I took this morning. I like this one a lot! I should sell it.

Davo,

Some of us need as much beauty sleep as possible.... Sell it, it's a great shot, and as you say soooo much different to the others. Very nice.

SG - Upgrade to an Olympus, you can use a digital remote control ;)

Hi there Davo,

Great work, loved number 2 and really liked number three. Night shots are another area that I want to get back into (maybe during summer).

I take your point, I have done stuff like that, gone to heroic lengths trying to capture a picture that's in my head. Now I'm getting old and weary, but fighting it like hell!

Geeat work Davo. My view on morning shots is if it can't be taken before bed time or after 9am .. it's not worth taking !! :)
