I've tried various crops on this IE from the right hand side of the road so that the road starts in the corner, then from further up the road, just doesn't seem to work.

I like the idea of the leading line straight into the fire. I agree with you that it should probably be kept this way (not that I have tried but looking direct down a line is quite powerful). Saying that, this image does lack a little power. Maybe a zoom in to enhance the leading line of the road.

Thats just very harsh criticism. I'm no pro and not trying to have a go at all :) Cool and interesting shot Fred. Nice!

Did you try going for a pano style by cropping off the bottom bit to just above the change in the road pavement ?
I find that and the solid white line a bit distracting.

Another good thing to try with roads is get the camera down onto the road surface looking slightly up.

Thanks Shacks for your comment and idea. as you can see i did try the pano and it will be something to try again.
I am never going to lie in the middle of the road in a 100k zone when im on my own and with my back to the traffic. LOL
