Carcoar NSW. Everywhere you look there are fantastic historic buildings.

All great - but I like #1 - shows what a great little town that is - and all of the colours of autumn.

Thanks Terry, it is a pretty amazing place. We were probably 3 or 4 weeks too early to get the full autumn colours

I'm a flatlander so enjoy seeing a town nestled in amongst the lovely rolling hills. Don't see any of that anywhere I've lived, almost looks like another country to me. :)

The old buildings give a wonderful laid back country living feeling and you've captured the mood and style of the place well Lloyd.

Lloyd #3 really gives the impression of stepping back in time.

Thanks for your comments Cannon. I too live on the flats these days, we moved down from the Sunshine Coast hinterland 20 years ago and we both still miss the hills and the small town country atmosphere. I go to places like this and just want to stay!

Jim, the whole town is like stepping back in time, it is very well preserved. Around every corner there is another delight that just makes you go WOW! Even the railway station has been refurbished and left for people to see. It even has the old scales for weighing parcels and freight just sitting on the platform.

It's near Orange isn't it? Somewhere around there? Looks like a great place to visit.

Very nice shots, I think you have to have.........ahem, a few wise years behind you to appreciate towns like these, I love to visit them.

Yes Jim. From Orange you head through Milthorpe, which is another beautiful little historic village, to Blayney, then turn west to Carcoar. Heading that way you go past the wind farm, which is an interesting sight on its own. You can't get to any of the towers though, I tried haha. It really is a wonderful part of the country. My wife was born in Orange, even though she grew up in Cooma.

Yeah not far from me here. I'm in Orange. You can get reasonably close to wind generators along the dirt road but would need to jump the fence and fight off the cows to get right to them. There are a few shops there full of antiques and junk which is interesting to wander through. I find it really difficult to capture the feel of the place though and just end up with a series of building shots. You have done well.

It's exactly around about here (http://maps.google.com.au/maps?f=q&source=s_q&hl=en&geocode=&q=Carcoar+NSW&sll=-25.335448,135.745076&sspn=60.242946,79.013672&ie=UTF8&hq=&hnear=Carcoar+New+South+Wales&ll=-33.504759,149.125671&spn=0.902337,1.234589&z=10)

Thanks Warus, yes, see below, we went down past the dam onto the dirt to see the windfarm. I didn’t want to go jumping fences though  - too much chance that I'd end up flat on my face

I was surprised at the size of those suckers though! People will get an idea of their size when compared to the cows in the paddock. It was very still and none were turning so we could not tell if they are as noisy as we've been told.

I was absolutely shocked at the dam though, only 5% capacity. Everywhere we went was lovely and green but around that area it is in a rain shadow. If it does not rain soon the area will be in water crisis.

Sure can’t Ian. We both love historic buildings and can never drive past one without having a gander. I have yet to learn the really finer points of making the shots good though. Old buildings can be quite hard to shoot and make a really special shot when you lack experience.

Jim, if you mean Carcoar, it is only a 55klm drive from Cowra, a bit over half an hour (less if you're a leadfoot haha) & it is well worth the drive. You can have a nice Devonshire Tea to relax before doing the town walk.
