Hi
Here is a little ant clip I made today.
Shot the video as 1920/1080 25p and then edited the raw movs as is with EDIUS on my 2 year old QUAD PC-XP :)

Hi Mick
Well I suggest you have a go.
I only brought the camera to shoot video. :)
The ants late in the arvo are pretty tame and you can actually sit in amongst them if you do it slowly. Different story during the day though.....

Interesting video.
Would be cool if you kicked one of those mounds over then set your camera up for a sequenced video for a few hours and showed them rebuilding it.

I will go back and have another go but shoot it at 50fps, then it can be slowed down for some neat effects....more soon.

Timelapse photography would show it better as Tomas said.
Its nice video work but photographing it at an example iso 100 F22 for 1sec with a N8 and 700 shots would really show the ants zooming around with some nice motion blur and edit the zoom in later.
Video cant do that.
But as I say the 7D does nice video.
Check out this timelapse of Stuttgart over 24hrs http://vimeo.com/9090369 to see what timelapse can do that video cant
Please dont take this as bagging what you have done because I think the idea is great I'd just like to see it executed with stills.

I have done timelapse with my old Nikon D70 hooked to my laptop and plan to get a intervalometer and external power for the the 7D but a Tokina 11-16 mm comes first. Maybe I take my laptop next time and use that to drive the camera.
At this point I'm interested in how it shoots video, plan to get a Nauticam housing for it later on to get it underwater.
That Stuttgart video sure was pretty cool though..:)

Hi Mike
I cheated abit, pans and zoom done in EDIUS.:)
Yes the ants did attack the camera....you can indeed see a couple run over the lens...

I was wondering if any ants got into the cam, and then one walks across the lens :-)
