The pics really catch the mood of today!
Isn't swell suposted to be bigger tomorrow?
i think the swell will probably peak overnight or tomorrow morning. needs to tidy up a bit too. by monday it'll probably be perfect. the wind's ripping it to pieces - looks ugly. not good light for photos either

Love the second one with the surfer almost swallowed by the wave...
spent many a day at Deewhy Beach in my younger yrs
pretty cold out of the water especially with the wind. in the water though it's still quite warm at about 20 degrees

Hi Davo,
If your photos are catching what it is really like, then I would say the light is just right...
To me these shots convey two things, the seas and how truly awsome they can be, and the skies, portraying a cold, stormy day ahead....
I like them.
actually i surprised myself with them. it was that dark i didn't think they'd turn out at all, but they turned out just right without photoshopping them too

Great lighting, great drama, great shots, davo. What gear did you use?
Nothing special. Just an outdated Fuji s5500 10x optical zoom. Does the job ok for now until the budget stretches out for SLR. Actually it's not too bad, it has all the functionality of my old 35mm slr. The only difference really being you can't change the lens.
Or make that the difference lighting makes. Another big south swell pounding Sydney this weekend. Only difference is there's not a cloud in sight this morning. This photo almost looks "warm", but believe me it aint. It was 6 degrees outside this morning, and with the a brisk sou-wester felt around freezing.
