Hi all,

Just went all out on a Nikon D80, have had 3 digital cameras over the years (including a nice kodak 2megapixel $700 antique)

Am looking at meeting other Melbourne-based photographers to learn more about perfecting my photos and camera's manual settings (knowing basics about aparture and shutter speeds would be a start)

I believe I am already a better-than-average photographer, but don't know as much as I would like to about these 'manual' settings - I think meeting people would give me a better understanding than trying to read my booklet.

Looking forward to reading some posts and the odd contribution and perhaps catching up if such meets ever occur.

Hi Zamperla

I am only new here my self but I would like to welcome you to APF.

I also am not from Melbourne so I can't meet up with you either, but I am sure there are heaps of photography clubs there that could help you out.

I am sure someone here knows of some.

Take care and nice to meet you look forward to seeing some of your work :)

Happy snapping

Hi I am Melbourne-based but spend a fair bit of time travelling to do my photography. I think the only way to improve is to go out there and shoot as much as you can. Then review your shots carefully, even the **************** ones, their the ones you learn most from often. "Travel Photography" by Richard I'Anson by Lonely Planet is a great book for beginners. Of course posting your shots & getting critiques will also help enormously.

Would be happy to help but I'm a Canon user.
I could suggest another forum to check out but admin may not be happy about that. I think if you looked around for camera clubs/forums in the Melbourne area you may find more members that could assist.

Thanks all, some good advice - I was going to ask about all the forums out there, but you touched on that Neil.

thanks for the welcome.

Hi again Zamperla,
I received your PM but could not reply because it says...
Zamperla has exceeded their stored private messages quota and can not accept further messages until they clear some space. You may have to clear out your stored PMs (if your quota is in fact full) or you could send me a PM with an email address to reply to you if you want.

Best Wishes
Neil
