At 20:30 yesterday, get this ph call from son1
"Get down here, should see this storm coming across the lake"
Ok grab camera gear, throw on bike gear & down we go.
Not even half way, we rule out setting up the tripod. ( mind you its was only a min ride )
Get there & its a race to get @ least 1 shot before it starts bucketing down.
At this point only dealing with the wind & spray of the water. I head for the wheelie bin under tree to sit camera on. Got 1

Then I headed for that table, lucky got another

By now its getting to close for comfort, lighting getting @ the blinding stage to watch & when u see a strike & then watch as Yarrawonga slowly goes out, then its time to go. Gearing up, feeling it in the air etc .. TIME TO LEAVE.
Not as good as other lighting shots posted of late but HEY lol I cant complain about missing out on the fun :p Oh yeah was soaked to the bone by time we got home.

Gday Charmed, Awesome shots, love a good storm. Was down your way a couple weekends ago but all I got was lots of heat and sweat in my eyes lol. Used to swim in that very pool when I was about 9y/old. Yarrawonga/Mulwalla was our holiday spot as my grandparents lived in Yarra and my Uncle and Aunty still live in Mul, still a great place to live/visit. Cheers Marty

If you get struck by lightning it will burn the top of your head and the soles of your feet and may melt any metal objects on your person depending on how big the strike is - or so I've heard.
Those storm panoramas are bloody awesome - imagine driving down those roads towards them!
Charmed, I love that second shot.

Ahhh that wasnt hot should have been here a few weeks earlier LOL. You would have noticed a big difference in the towns. Next time your down this way, Yell out. Uncle & Aunt still live here? HMMM now I wonder who they might be. Typical country town, probably know them somewhere along the line here.
Karen, thanks,

Hope I'm not breaking any forum rules by ressurrecting (some forums get well snakey - "OMG THIS THRED IS LIEK 2 DAYS OLD U=BANED!!!?!")
I just wanted to say though I like both shots, number 1 has a vaguely surreal quality to it - the peaceful foreground almost looks out of place for the violence going on in the sky behind. Nice work!
I do love storms, haven't had any down our way lately though :(
Love the second shot too...sometimes our best work is done under pressure when you dont get to long to think about it hey! Really impressive shots though great work.

I bought my house so I could sit on the deck and photograph storms. The trouble is I am always at work when they happen. You need at **************** car and flexibility at work to be good at this.
Edit: jees, c.r.a.p is a dirty word here.

Wow! I love the first shot, as for being brave or stupid I would have felt stupid until I'd seen the results which would have made it all worth the effort, I think you were brave.
