Well, technically this happened just before he arrived..

I apologise in advance to those on a modem connection, I tried to get the jpgs as small as possible without sacrificing too much image quality.

These were all shot outside Town Hall in Sydney last Thursday afternoon. Unfortunately due to unfavourable weather and late hour I had to use Fuji NPZ 800, grainy but fast.

All photographs have been adjusted for contrast and colour correction only (they are from scanned negs...) unless otherwise specified.

A demonstrator resisting the police. I think they wanted to take his umbrella. This one was extensively cropped, so I added some unsharp mask to make the grain into an effect rather than a liability.

Exactly the same, except converted to black and white with more unsharp mask. I don't normally do colour->BW conversions (I shoot enough BW to start with), but I think this one looks better as BW.

Which reminds me, I've got 2 rolls of HP5 to develop that I shot at the protest..

Great series of shots.
Cant put my finger on it, but the grain works here.

Great documentary. The last shot is particularly effective with B&W & grain.

The first photo has two great subjects in it that you could've zoomed in on (or cropped), and unfortunately some old dude got the top of his head in. Otherwise I really like the b/w one too.
