Hi all,
living in Adelaide.
Just purchased a Canon 400D with twin kit lenses and the learning curve commences!
I am interested in any photo style that doesn't include people - I prefer the subject matter to not interact with me. Still a nervous newbie with the DSLR. People generally want to see the picture after you are finished and not ready for that just yet!
There seem to be a few 400D owners around here and it is fantastic to see what I should be able to do once I have figured out some basics - composition, manual features etc.
I really enjoy seeing what others have accomplished and also reading fellow forum members feedback.
I saw that Moose was promoting a camera club. Are there any others around Adelaide that forum members would recommend for the newly initiated?
See you around the forums,
Grizz

Thanks for the welcome Simone,
I have always liked my toys, they just seem to get more expensive.
I must remember to ask my boss for a raise so I can save for a couple more lenses!

Hi Marty,
lots to learn but I am having a good time with the 400D. I can't believe how quick the camera is compared to my point and shoots. I started with a Nikon Coolpix, then moved to the Panasonic FZ2 and had lots of fun with the huge zoom and close-up lenses (nothing that would be printable, just fun to look at). I was looking to buy the FZ50 when I noticed the 400D. I purchased a step-down ring so I could use the close-up lenses I had and am back to having fun again.
The difference is that I am now looking seriously at taking good photos not just a few fuzzy images of spiders that amuse me.
Thanks for the welcome,
Grizz

Hey Grizz, I know how ya feel mate, I got the 400D after using a Canon S2 IS which I still have and the speed difference is awesome. The only thing I miss is the zoom range of the S2 but I hope to purchase the Canon 70-200L f/4 in the hopefully not to distant future. Cheers Marty

not if they don't know you taking the shot ;)
if you want close ups etc, buy a set of Hoya Macro Filters....cool to play with and learn alot from. Not too expensive either.
Hope to see some shots up soon! :)

Ohh! So that's the trick!
Just have to figure out how to disguise my camera, or , wait, yep I have to get myself a bigger lense. One of those great big buggers that need their own monopod. Yeah!
Now how to convince the wife to take out a loan for me;)
Or perhaps I could do something with some toilet rolls and an old lense?
Oh well I will figure it out,
Grizz
