Went to the beach today and I took the camera gear with plans to take lots of photos. Unfortunately there was so many people there that I ended up having to take all my photos from one spot because I couldn't leave the bags to go photo hunting.
DH was on the beach with Alex which meant there was no one guarding our bags if I was looking through a lens.
So I plonked myself down with the bags and used the tripod for some long exposures with the infrared filter. The anoying thing was people wondering into the shot. Not so bad if they were fast enough and it was a 30sec exposure but when they stood in front of the camera and moved just enough to become a blurred lump, now that was bad.
DH did it too. I set up a 30sec shot, pushed the button and sat back only to see DH walk Alex right into the middle of the shot and then wander around there for the rest of the 30secs
I really need to go back after school holidays.
Anyway here's some pics.

Wasn't sure whether I prefered this in colour or BW.

At least I've got the white foliage, black sky, thing working now.

That second colour shot is so good! especially with the white feathery leaves contrasting the sky

i think monotone infa-red has been done much more often. Colour adds a whole new element, although obviously gives a 'Lord of the Ringes'/'elven forest type feel, which I could imagine some people really dislike.

Hi Rebecca
Just found your thread & love the shots. Can you advise what filter you use & maybe where you sourced this from. Am also keen to have a go at Infrared. Love the colour shots. Think you have done a fantastic job & love to see more

Two or three pieces of old film negative are dark enough to hold over the lens for a infrared photo if you don't have a filter
