I really like this. I nice textural BW.
I'd crop most of the black off the left and some of the right and tone down the bright area on his head, my eyes are drawn straight to it.

I agree with rebecca as far as the cropping goes, would like to see a tighter crop (have a real thing for tight crops)

Can see why this is a favourite. Lovely shot.
In two minds about the crop

Howdy,

Not convinced it needs cropping. The lighting is great and adds to teh mood of the photo. Well done :)

I suggested cropping mainly because its personal taste with me...as youve probably noticed I adore close cropped headshots....

I like the large crop in this one, it is just personal taste it seems, but the large blank area speaks to me. No offence to the subject, but it's like he's in a coffin, or perhaps just lonely.

The bright forehead is a bit distracting but otherwise I love the photograph.

Cheers, Graham.

nice interpretation graham.... i thought along the same lines, but didn't want to say that lol

i think the shot would work in both its current state and a tighter crop.

love the lighting and the pose

Awesome pic. I like your crop even though I am into the tighter crop. Great tweaking too ;)

see! this is where i fail... I would have looked at the original and said to myself, damn, not a good shot...

and yet you can see something and turn it into a great B&W shot!

damn you creative types! :p

Little Mick

You've done a great job. Well done- from an ordinary photo, you've created an extraordinary image.

(I don't think that comments about tight crops related to farmers in the drought).

My instructions would be.....Play as much as you can with photoshop! Read tutorials on how to do things...really get a feel for the program....I hated using it for about 6 months....but then it all came together....It's like anything really.....I look at pics i took 12 months ago and I cringe.......at least I am getting better.........thanks for liking this pic!

Tis is where digital art and photography meet...well done. Really great to see the original photo as well, usually we just get to see the results. Thanks.
