Hi everyone,
just an idle question.
I'm wondering how everyone chose their ID names/handles?
I've noticed some interesting names and thought there might be some good stories behind them if anyone wants to share.
Mine is obvious and boring :)

SSSchwing = SSS, being my car and I couldn't think of something to call myself starting with SSS. And then SCHWING! popped out. *shrug*


used the name for years, so make it easy and just use it everywhere lol

my names boring aswell rebecca. I just can never seem to think of anything when i sign up to web forums and i'm not going to use any of my nicknames.

Mine I thought of because of "Little Albert" they used in an associative learning experiment many years ago. They conditioned him to be scared of white rabbits :)
And I picked that because all my internet forum usernames (I'm a forum addict - mainly parenting forums!) are related to Psychology in one way or another!

Psychologically, you could probably read a little more into it if that were the case :)

My "handle" is my real name, only because I have an on-line alias that I reserve for things which aren't serious or sites not so trustworthy. So all you people should feel privileged to see a part of my real self! hahaha :)

Geez Ssschwing and all this time we thought it came from one of the cool pronunciations from the Waynes World Movie.

I was given that name in the army when the Beverly Hills cop movie was first released because my surname is Foley so I became Axel Foley. I was ok with it because it was one of the less derogatory names compared to what the other guys got LOL
It stuck through the years in my motorbike club and when the internet arrived the name just sort of continued.

Back in the days when I & a group of friends, use to cause havoc & make chat not so pleasent for some people :rolleyes:, id was Sasha, but then because of other things Im into a friend hacked into my id, changed it to Sasha Charmed. Eventually Sasha got dropped & now its just Charmed where ever I go.

Without revealing how long I have been around computers...:p

Back in the days when the internet was text based, YES, there was such a time, no WWW, just basic text and very basic email....

They used to have things called Bulliten Boards, or BBS (the 'S' I think stood for service)... Anyway I chose my nick 'atlas' as I was communicating with people from all over the world and thought that nick appropriate at the time and has stayed with me ever since....

Yes, I used to work with mainframes too !!! :eek:
