Some brief background in my memory about the Great Wall in China...

(1) Around 2000 years ago, it was first built by Chinese to against Hun army. After a war lasting for almost 200 years, Hun army were defeated and they fled to Europe, where they became the forefather of today's Hungary people.

(2) Around 600 years ago, Chinese defeated mongolia army which occupied China for 80 years, and mongolia army fled back to mongolia highland. But they still attacked China occasioanlly, and Chinese built this fence wall to against mongolia army. The Great Wall you saw today were those built 600 years ago to against mongolia army.

Hopely above can help you answer the questions from your daughter,
:-)

Ah yes I recall, built by the Emperor Nasi Goreng! Seriously, I like the shot, although much is made about the size of the wall the sense of scale compared to the mountains is good to see.
