This is a statue that I have always loved in my local park. I have always wondered what the sculpture was attempting to convey, so fiddle with the lighting moods at different times of day.
Another one of my weird shots lol
This was late afternoon on a cloudy, windy day - Nikon F3 - filllem - f5.6/125 - ISO100 - 105 lens at the max - PS work - destaurated and a touch of exposure uplift to make her butt not look so big and a filter touch

interesting image Karen, my only cc would be that near the face it seems somewhat blown out.
great editing however and can understand the tone you were trying to convey with the colouring

yeah I fiddled with that light around the face a touch and I am not knowing if it is this screen thing I was mentioning. It's pretty blown out on the film as I could not get that 'fear' composition - without the clouded sky reflecting off the white. If only birds would poop on command and dull the white in that spot. I'll get a scarier one before a storm one day and hopefully lose that burn!
great shot
what 'filllem' did you use?

The fillem? lol Fuji 100 - I have always liked Fuji and Agfa - :D Agfa grabs the nicest green in DOF
and thanks :)
I am gessing (by looking at the image) the fuji 100 is a C41 process (negative) film such as ?superia (I don't shoot c41, so am not all that knowledgable).
a specific b&w film such as T-max, with its huge dynamic range (about 10 stops) will give you heaps to play with when it comes to tonal adjustments, and wouldn't 'blow out' around the sky as snowygirl mentions (although flare will still be a problem of course).
I still really like the image as is.
Have a play and see what you think.

Thanks D200 - I like it too, but it is a subjective shot, so not everyone's cup of tea. It had been a long time since I had used film too and I do have a black and white lot to shoot after this colour is finished. Waiting for a decent sunset/rise up here at the moment.

OK, now I know she is not in black and white lol but this is what the D70 provided in the same lighting, same time of day, in the raw, no cropping, desaturation or filters.
she doesn't look so intimidated lol I could have fiddled, but really wanted to compare this with the film shot that I have, and honestly, it is definitely comparable

OH, and I could not get around the same shot side because a lady was walking her dog and my dog was going off her nut. My dog loves going to this place. It is the corridor of oaks and she loves to poop and wee on King George, or her latest prime minister of fancy :D lol about a five bag visit
and the lens HMMMMM I didn't have my 105mm on me, I am sure, it would replicate exactly to be honest. This new-age fangled digital stuff is mighty impressive
IMHO compared to 35mm film, your d70 will give as good a result as high res slide film, but the 105 prime will run rings around any consumer plastic lens, regardless of the capture media. The only areas left where film has a serious advantage is black and white (almost twice the dynamic range) and large format (4x5 inches and greater).
having said that, I don't know if the downsampled images posted are much use as a comparison, as you really have to look at much larger enlargements to see the limits of any photographic media.

True about the film and definitely!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! regarding the lens. Ahhhh my true love black and white and large format scares me lol
Well, in my logic, since only 'strange' people would contemplate an enlargement of this statue that protects this swan whilst staring at the heavens - it was a decent example for me to compare the two, for me more than anything else. But agreed indeed overall :) When it stops raining this afternoon, I am going to take the lens back there and fiddle.
