Following on from this (http://www.photoforum.com.au/showthread.php?t=12964) thread...here are the shots. I am happy with a few but I didn't really get what I wanted. C & C welcome. The full set from the whole day can be seen here (http://martincanning.myphotos.cc/gallery/main.php?g2_itemId=10716&g2_page=1). (P.S. I wasn't the official photographer).

Your exposures are really patchy and all over the place. With some consistent adjustment you will have a really solid set. when I first saw this I was a bit ~~~ but looking at the galleries more closely, you did very well for the position you were in (as a family member). The photos above don't do justice to the volume and quality of your shots, and neither does the post processing done so far (if any). Did you photograph in RAW mode? If you push your files up to a consistent exposure, you'll have a very solid set

Yeh I shot in RAW. I have spent the most of the day PP'ing. I have had about 4 hours sleep so I don't think I'm operating very well! I think I'll go back and go through them again when I am more awake. Thanks for your encouragement.

Edit: What do you mean push up to a consistent exposure? Are the shots under exposed? I think it has something to do with Lightroom when they are exported as JPEGs. Every time I export from Lightroom it seems to increase the contrast or reduce the exposure! Maybe I need to up the exposure more to compensate.

haha maccas! awesome! As Smorter has said, there is some potential in those shots. Keep at the PP and look at the image as what it could be...

Oh :( Are you running a calibrated monitor? It would suck if you put in so much effort to be editing on an out of whack monitor

Yeh thats the other thing - I don't have a calibrated monitor. I think this one is pretty bad - black and white looks almost like yellow and grey! I'll have to work on that.

I feel really bad for you because you've gone to all that effort on an uncalibrated monitor. At the minimum try and match your monitor to some prints, that will give a very rudimentary calibration (not accurate, but better than nothing)

I've bumped up the image exposure wise on my computer, but I daresay this will look awfully bright on your computer, however this would be a more correct (but still not perfect) exposure based on my monitor's calibration (My edit is a bit too bright I think though, as I've blown out the dress but anyway hopefully it is illustrative). I feel a lot of your images a bit too dark, but the subject content is there which is good

Thanks for your help smorter. I'll see what I can do in terms of calibration.

I love the third pic but for the explosion of light in the groin area. It separates them. Other than that I like that sort of pic. I don't even mind it is out of focus.

The only photo my wife and I have on display is a candid one of us on the day that has a post coming out of my head but it caught is 'in the moment' and we both love it. The third picture does that to me, it grabs the couple in the moment and takes the memory. nice work.

Im loving the third pic in your first post, the one where they are backlit and facing each other. Its a little blury near thier faces, although i think maybe this is just a result of the strong light from behind them but otherwise its a gorgeous photo. Id be quite happy with the same in my wedding pics.
