Recently I just went back to Vietnam for my sister's wedding. Knowing of my <rather OK> photography skills she asked me to do a few shots for her, although she had spent more than a grand on a professional photo album.
Anyway, here is part 1, where we took the shots in their newly-wedded bedroom. All shots were taken with the Canon 50D + 50mm f/1.4 using 100% natural light with no flash, no reflector etc. ( I didn't bring back much gear with me).
CCs on these are welcome as always. Part 2 (when I finish editing) will include shots at the ceremony.

They're great, Jackie! Doubtless your sister and her young man will be very happy with the photos.
Wonder how they match up with the professional ones.
I expect some would take issue with the whiteout, but I like it.

Thanks Laurie. They are indeed very thrilled with these photos.
It's hard to compare with those pro ones because they are so different.
The pro ones were taken in a two day trip at a island beach with a whole lot of setup, gear and lighting etc. They could take advantage of the scenic background, sunrise and sunset lighting etc. Also a lot of work in the post processing and album designing, which yielded an outstanding result.
Mine is a result of a quick one hour shoot, with absolutely no setup. I was concentrating more on getting the intimacy and inner feelings/emotion of the your couple so I let them pose naturally and freely and I just clicked. I think I have achieved that goal.
I would have loved to do an outdoor shoot too, but too bad it was raining that day.
The blown out was deliberate because there was no fill flash or reflector, the only way to pop the subjects would be to blow out the window. I then adjust carefully in LR2 so almost none of the subject's details are blown out.
Mind you also that these images were resized in bulk by PS Elements (which I had no experience on) and somehow the compression was not as good as otherwise done in PS. You can see pixelation in most of them :(

Thanks Scott, I will definitely post the second part, which is more of a candid show, as soon as I finish editing them.
BTW, have you got anyone for your wedding yet? Will you hire me based on these shots? :D
Love the compositions.
Thank you Richard, really appreciate your comment.

Hi Jackie
I really like the tone you are getting with these shots. It almost verges on black and white very desaturated colours not like the usual over bright high contrast. Nice work.

Very nice Jackie!
The only thing is the images themselves look to be suffering from severe compression artifacts, and don't do justice to your photography :(
I dislike 9 a bit in that the idea was good but looks a bit too blown and desaturated, and it takes effort to make out that it is a face at the top of the frame. (Whilst I can see the look you were going for with the OOF face, it's very hard to make out that it is infact a face)

Thank you Aus. I accidently discovered that tone while playing with the saturation slider on Lightroom. I only desaturated to around -85 to -90 so it retained some of the colours but had the look of a B&W.

Thanks Smorter. I agree on the compression. I had no idea what level the program has done on those since I did a bulk resizing. Normally I resample in Photoshop so the details are retained very well. I can redo these images but I'm afraid the links will be destroyed in this thread. Hmm maybe next time.
For #9, the face was quite visible in the original. I did apply a few gradient filter in LR to desat and blow out the face to get that effect which was to lead focus on the flowers. Thanks for your thought on that one anyway.
Nice work Jackie – I’m sure they were thrilled with the results. I did a wedding shoot a few weeks back myself. The biggest problem I found here was trying to find a decent album to put them in as I couldn’t find much of a selection here in Adelaide. I was looking for a dry mount with a professional look to it, but there were very few to choose from.

some first of them have the blur color and it seems not so good. but 1/2 at the rest is ok.

Yeah it was more the JPEG artifacts of heavy compression when resizing.
Thanks for your comment.
