I was very impressed by the frames that some members, particularly snowygal and framed, used with their images. I thought I should blatently/flagrantly copy their idea.

I have set up some actions that automatically resize, sharpen, frame and label the photos for posting to the web. Some fine tuning is still required.

I have chosen a white frame that I think will work well with portraits and wildlife:

and a black frame for scenics and darker shots:

keen to know if there are any sugestions.

Thanks in advance for all your advice.

I particularly like the 2nd frame , it,s nice and simple and doesnt overpower the photograph.
BTW both images are fantastic , the 2nd one would look perfect hanging on my wall.

Framed thankyou very much - that means an aweful lot coming from a photographer of your standard (i'm always looking foreward to your next photo post)!

I wonder if the white background distracts less with a tighter surounding line:

BTW both the African children shots in this thread are testament to always carrying a little point and shoot. IMHO, there will be times you are caught without your big beefy SLR, and capturing the moment is usually far more important (both taken with an olympus ultra compact II fixed 35mm 2.8 and NPH 400)!

Of course, but what photo editing software do you have?

What I'm trying to learn is Photoshop CS2, so that would be great. Also have GIMP and GIMPSHOP but they are only to play with.

Alexander, sorry I took a while to get back to you. If you don't know how to perform any steps, just let me know which ones:
the action goes:
resize image
output sharpen
Duplicate background image onto new layer
select background colour
resize canvas to border + frame size
new layer
select new layer
select frame colour
from the edit menu select stroke and the size of the frame
add layer style (the f symbol at the bottom of the palate) and add shadows bevels etc.
for a shadow or border around or behind the actual image, select the duplicate layer and the layer style or stroke that you want
save for web

check out this excellent framing tutorial (http://www.thelightsrightstudio.com/learning-gallery-frame.htm).
