Wow absolutely awesome! Well done patrick. If you don't mind, what settings did you have there?

Hmmmm.... First I stuck the D300 on a tripod, attached the Photix wireless remote and sat next to it to watch, after setting the camera to ISO200, f6.3, Manual, 1.6 second exposure (I tried a few other similar exposures, this one worked pretty well and I used it mostly). I also manual focused in about the right plane, that was pretty hard to get exactly right so it probably wasn't.

While watching I pressed the Photix button pretty well every 1.6 seconds. I made sure the camera wasn't trying to do its noise reduction thing which makes it take twice as long for each shot.

Every so often I adjusted the zoom and framing eg if they shot up a bigger set of rockets or when they set them off on the city skyline.

Including a few panos while walking there (a *long* walk to the South Perth foreshore from the other side of Kings park) I took over 600 shots.

The third one is a cracker, very well done. I do the same thing as you but I ususally jsut use the remote release and hold it down till a couple of starbursts have exploded.

Absolutely magnificent. LOVE the city in the background. Different to the usual fireworks shots.

A great background and foreground to these. Lovely combinations. Well Done!

Better than my recent firework posts!
