Hi everyone

im a 21yr old female who lives in brissy. I have purchased a 400d a few weeks back and im now on a huge learning curve...

I have found i love taking photos and cant wait for the next opportunity. i have no idea how to use m ost of the functions of my camera so if you see in my pics im not doing something please let me know...

i really only get time at night and on the weekends to take pics so most of them will be night shots... if anyone can suggest better places then kangaroo point and southbank to take pics please let me know

Are there photography days for brisbane people at all?? id really apreciate walking among a group of people who know what they are doing...

cheers everyone

Sonia

Hi Sonia

What are you interested in? Portraits, wildlife, abstract, nature, reflections?
Queen street mall candids as Mike suggested and also evening shots with the lights and atmosphere
Creek street area has lots of tall buildings with reflections and glass, great for a early morning stroll with your camera before work when the sun's on the way up. Have to wander around staring upwards though.
Lots of great stone buildings with interesting textures around Queen, Wharf etc.
Lots of public artwork that could make interesting shots
Lots of interesting people wandering around

Also look at the challenge section, with your night shots you'll have plenty of opportunity to get creative with slow shutter speeds for this months challenge

I know there are a few Brissy members, photography day sounds like a good idea when did you say you are organising the first one :). Seriously though I think its a good idea and maybe if a few more members show interest one should be arranged, it's not too difficult to persuade me to spend some time taking or talking photos :)

Hi Sonia, welcome to the forums :D

Great to see young brissy folk out there snappin' away (i'm a baby too, 22yo). Congrats on your 400D, its a super little camera from what i've heard, i've yet to have a go with one though :(. There are a few members here with this camera or the earlier 350D who should be able to solve your technical questions.

Regarding your meetup suggestion, that sounds great. I'd be interested for sure. I'm way up on the northside, don't often get to venture into the city for those nice urban shots.

Anywho, have fun, post up your pics in the free members gallery for us and we'll see you round.

Cheers,
